You’re most likely to appreciate a great set of breasts – as long as it’s the opposite sex who’s sporting them. Looking down at your chest and realizing that you could use your own training bra to support your man boobs is enough to get anyone to the gym (or at least Google for some reassurance).
Why do men get man boobs anyway? It’s not particularly because you’re out of shape. You could be in a normal weight range but are just predisposed to carrying a bit of fat around the chest. Another reason could be gynecomastia caused by a hormonal imbalance in your body. Raised levels of estrogen and lowered levels of testosterone will then result to breast enlargement.
As harmless as this condition is physically, it’s incredibly embarrassing for most men to have. A sculpted chest attracts women as much as bouncing man boobs repel them. However, if you’re struggling with enlarged breasts, you’re not alone. One in three men will experience the same symptoms at some point in their lives.
Sadly, the insecurities and shame that come with developing an enlarged chest are very real. It has driven many to extreme measures such as going under the knife.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, male breast reduction surgeries have gone up by 6% in 2011 – when almost two decades ago, this procedure was rarely heard of! The numbers continue to grow each year, with 13% of people getting cosmetic surgery being men.
Medical surgery is very risky, not to mention expensive and painful. The side effects when a procedure goes wrong can leave you with scars or even permanent deformities.
